Archaeological test trenching was carried out in relation to a proposed replacement dwelling located at lands 160m south of No. 2 Low Road, Aghayalloge, Co Armagh. A desktop study has confirmed that the proposed development is situated within an established archaeological landscape and contains the remains of an Industrial Heritage Site, Corn Mill IHR00602:000:00 dating from the mid-19th century. A series of machine-dug test trenches were placed across the footprint of the proposed replacement dwelling under archaeological supervision. Excavation of the trenches did not identify any archaeological remains, therefore it was recommended that the proposed development proceed with no further archaeological requirement.
