The final phase of archaeological monitoring of topsoil stripping at this site was completed in October 2020. In the course of monitoring a burnt spread was recorded on the east-facing slope of a natural rise at the west end of the site. It comprised of an irregular-shaped area of heat-fractured stones 7m x 6.6m. A north-south running furrow delimited the feature in the east while a sub-circular pit was located 0.4m west of the furrow. Two further pit features were identified to the west of the burnt spread. Excavation of the burnt spread revealed a total of five pit features cut into the natural subsoil. Four of the features were located on the higher ground on north side while one pit was located to the east. All of the pit features were filled with fragmented burnt stone. Occasional charcoal fragments were recovered from some of the pits and from the base of the burnt spread and these may provide dating evidence. No artefacts or organic material were recovered from the site.
