Development involved the lateral extension of an existing quarry in a southerly direction. The development area measured 2.19 ha., while the existing quarry measures 2.38 ha.
A geophysical survey (Licence 20R0244), carried out within the development area by Joanna Leigh in November 2020, failed to reveal the presence of any potential archaeological features.
Seven test trenches were excavated within the area of land take. Test trenching revealed topsoil directly sealing geologically deposited strata in all of the trenches.
No archaeological features or artefacts were recorded as a result of carrying out the test trenching.
