A programme of archaeological testing was undertaken at Belleville, Templemore, County Tipperary, prior to the construction of a flood relief embankment as part of the River Mall (Templemore) Flood Relief Scheme. It followed on from a previous Cultural Heritage Assessment which was prepared by Moore Group for the OPW in January 2015 for inclusion in the EIS for this scheme.
A single test trench, measuring 100 linear metres, was excavated along the length of the proposed flood relief embankment, centrally aligned, to fully investigate the archaeological potential of the site.
The test trenching did not identify any archaeological deposits.
