The client, Ms. Georgina Kelly, undertook renovation, single storey rear extension and ancillary works to No. 2 Rock Villas, Rock Lane, Cashel, Co. Tipperary. Archaeological monitoring took place in accordance with Condition No. 4 of Planning Permission 20152 and took into account extant and recorded archaeology in the vicinity of the site as well as the results of a preceding archaeological impact assessment. Monitoring took place between 20 April and 5 May.
All ground works were monitored, internal and external. Natural subsoil levels were achieved at shallow depths with intervening 20th-century debris being the only stratigraphic profile. No artefacts, stratigraphy of an archaeological nature, structures or deposits were encountered.
