Archaeological monitoring of construction stage works took place along the N4 N15 Improvement Scheme, in Sligo Town (Rathquarter, Cartron, Rathedmond, and Knappagh Beg townlands). The works included the construction of new roads, paths, cycle lanes, and a new bridge over the Cashlough, as well as upgraded services within the historic town centre. Most of the receiving ground comprised modern imported soil and stone deposits, or modern rubble. At Rathquarter, several subterranean early modern limestone rubble field walls were identified, and were preserved in situ. No archaeology was identified during the monitoring.
