An archaeological test excavation was carried out as part of an RFI request from Roscommon County Council for a wind energy development in the townland of Kilcash, County Roscommon. The proposal is to construct a single sub 5MW Turbine with a tip height of 150m. The turbine will be constructed on a hardstanding concrete pad with an adjacent substation building.

A detailed desk-based assessment was previously completed as part of a pre-planning archaeological assessment. The test excavation was requested by the council as eight recorded monuments are located between 355–800m of the proposed turbine site.

Four test trenches were excavated but no features or finds of archaeological significance were found.
