An archaeological test excavation was carried out as part of an RFI request from
Roscommon County Council for a wind energy development in the townland of Kilcash, County Roscommon. The proposal is to construct a single sub
5MW Turbine with a tip height of 150m. The turbine will be constructed on a hardstanding concrete pad with an adjacent substation building.
A detailed desk-based assessment was previously completed as part of a pre-planning archaeological assessment. The test excavation was requested by the council as eight recorded monuments are located between 355-800m of the proposed turbine site.
Four test trenches were excavated but no features or finds of archaeological significance were found.
