Archaeological monitoring was undertaken for the north-east part of a water rehabilitation scheme in the townland of Rahan Demesne as there is an RMP site (OF016-015005 – ecclesiastical enclosure) in proximity to the works and also given the density of archaeological monuments within the enclosure and various unlocated monuments in the surrounding area.
Monitoring was proposed for the area from the eastern end of the proposed development to the corner adjacent to Mill House; in the event, only pits for directional drilling or pipe-bursting were excavated and these were archaeologically monitored. No archaeological features, deposits or artefacts were found during the course of works.
