This site is located immediately north of the existing development of Ledwidge Hall. It was previously subjected to a number of archaeological investigations. A geophysical survey of the site was also undertaken by Donald Murphy and Robert Breen of ACSU under Licence No. 18R0255 on the 3rd of December 2018 and an archaeological assessment (via test trenching) was subsequently carried out at the pre-planning stage on 7 January 2019 under Licence No. 18E0735, by Derek Gallagher of ACSU. No features of archaeological significance were identified as a result of the geophysical survey and the archaeological assessment. An assessment of existing structures on the site was also carried out by Jon Stirland of ACSU on 14 January 2019. The buildings contained within this site were modern in date and as a result there was no archaeological impact. It was therefore recommended that the proposed development be allowed to proceed
without any further works. Nevertheless, archaeological monitoring was requested by the relevant authorities.
Unlicensed archaeological monitoring was subsequently carried out in June 2021 using a 13-tonne tracked excavator. A single field drain was identified. No features of archaeological significance were identified, and no finds were recovered. The work is now complete, and no further mitigation is necessary.
