Testing was undertaken in advance of a proposed housing development. Five trenches (203 linear metres) were excavated using a 13-tonne mechanical excavator equipped with a 1.8m grading bucket under constant archaeological supervision. Excavations revealed that extensive parts of the site had been previously disturbed. Relatively undisturbed areas of the site were encountered in the southern portions of the site. Topsoil was frequently contaminated with modern debris and overlaid with mounds of domestic refuse and construction debris. Test excavations revealed no finds or features of archaeological significance.
