Four trenches were excavated across the footprint of a new rollercoaster being developed within Tayto Park, Co. Meath. A single linear feature traversed all trenches running north-south at a general depth of 0.5m and was confirmed as a modern electricity cable. After hand-excavation in Trench 1, a radio-detection cable avoidance device was used to validate the feature in Trenches 2–4. No archaeological features or deposits were uncovered.
A small number of finds were recovered from the lower A-horizon of Trench 1. They comprised poorly preserved animal bone, a cattle tooth and two sherds of pottery, one of which was heavily abraded and is difficult to identify. The other can be confirmed as a grey stoneware with a mottled brown surface. It likely derives from a jug and dates to the 17th or 18th century.
