A programme of archaeological testing carried out at Tarmon, Blacksod, Co. Mayo. The proposed works entail the construction of a dwelling house, proprietary effluent treatment system, percolation area and all associated site works.
RMP MA024-026---- Ecclesiastical Site is within the vicinity of the proposed development site. As a result, the planning authority recommended pre-development archaeological test trenching.
Testing look place on 13 July 2021. Six linear test trenches were excavated at 5m intervals across the proposed development site, in the footprint of the proposed house, driveway and percolation area. No deposits, features or objects of archaeological significance were noted during testing.
