Archaeological test trenching was carried out on the site at Richardstown, Dromin, Drogheda, Co. Louth.
A total of seven test trenches were excavated within the site. Each trench measured 1.8m in width, and in total, 548m of linear trenches were excavated. The test trenches were excavated down to the natural mottle orange grey-silty sand. Three trenches were excavated in the western field that was used as a storage area. It appears it was previously stripped, and hardcore was laid on the top of geotextile covering natural, exposed at a depth of c. 0.37-0.43m. The remaining four trenches were excavated within the eastern part of the green field area, where the natural was exposed at a depth of c. 0.27-0.34m. The only features exposed were identified as agricultural furrows.
No archaeological features or deposits were exposed or identified. The work is now complete.
