Monitoring took place at the Opera Site development in Limerick City. The monitoring involved ground excavations for drainage trenches along Michael Street and Bank Place, along with an exploratory trench and 18 Trial Pits which were located within the interior of the site. A number of 18th-century brick Georgian cellars were uncovered along Michael Street and Bank Place and recorded as part of the monitoring report. A layer of dark grey organic material which contained 18th/19th-century pottery, clay pipes and animal bone was also uncovered. This layer was concentrated at the north end of Michael Street. A 17th-century mortar bomb and pump stick were found during the monitoring. Nothing of an archaeological nature was uncovered during the monitoring of the exploratory trench and 18 Trial Pits within the interior of the site.
