An archaeological assessment was carried out as part of a pre-planning investigation for a single residential development in Clonfert South, County Kildare. The proposed development site is located close to but outside the zone of archaeological potential of an enclosure (KD010-003) identified from aerial photography taken in 1968. The site is described as a circular area (est. diam c. 100m) defined by a hedged townland boundary to north-north-west, north and north-north-east, and elsewhere by low earthworks.
A test excavation was carried out during October 2021. The excavation found no evidence of archaeological remains and no finds within the footprint of the development.
