Archaeological testing was carried out on 19 November 2021. The trenches targeted open areas around two standing buildings to investigate the archaeological potential of the site.
Testing revealed one area of archaeological significance, which has been designated as Archaeological Area AA1. This comprises a cluster of stone walls and cobble surface, potentially remnants of the former woollen mill depicted on the first OS edition map of 1837 and structures on the Noble and Keenan map of Kildare of 1752.
