Archaeological testing was undertaken at Ballintleave Commons, Dooks Mountain, Glenbeigh, Co. Kerry in response to a planning application to construct a wintering unit for cattle, associated underground slurry tanks, and fodder sheds.

Four test trenches (T1-T4), oriented north-east/south-west, with a total length of 200m, were opened across the footprint area of the proposed cattle wintering unit. Test trenches were all stratigraphicaly similar comprising of a thin layer of peaty vegetation to a depth of 0.1–0.2m. This overlays sterile light orange/yellow silty sandy natural subsoil. Nothing of an archaeological nature was noted.
