An archaeological test excavation was carried out as part of an impact assessment to be submitted with planning application to reclaim lands to improve agricultural output on a farm in Coolkeragh townland c.4km north of Listowel. There are no recorded archaeological monuments within the proposed landfill areas.
Six test trenches were excavated to the surface of the natural ground. These were placed in two areas proposed for landfill north and west of the farmyard buildings. No features or finds of archaeological significance were exposed.
