An archaeological test excavation was carried out as part of an impact assessment to be submitted with a planning application for a proposed landfill site near Killorglin. The nearest recorded monuments are located over 300m to the west and north-west of the landfill area; a Church (KE057-064), a Children`s Burial Ground (KE057-06401) and a ringfort (KE057-059).
Thirteen test trenches were excavated to the surface of the natural ground in three fields proposed for landfill and no features or finds of archaeological significance were exposed.
