The area of archaeological pre-development test trenching was comprised of part of a field in pasture and the existing farmyard. A previous site visit in May 2021 recorded that the field had been excavated previously with the removal of sod and topsoil (depth 0.2m).
A total of 4 test trenches (Trenches A-B) were mechanically excavated (utilizing a toothless grading bucket). All trenches were orientated north-east/south-west, measured 1.5-2m in width, 20m in length and were excavated for a depth of 0.15-0.3m, revealing the natural boulder clay and bedrock. No features and/or finds of archaeological significance was encountered during the course of the test excavations.
