Archaeological monitoring of two new pole foundation trenches and two associated cable stay foundation trenches was undertaken at Meelick and Friarsland, County Galway on 30 September 2021. This work was carried out in order to facilitate the construction of a new section of three-phase medium voltage OHL, which was required to accommodate a new flood defence scheme at Meelick. The works were undertaken within the eastern margins of the Zone of Notification for a complex of archaeological sites, including GA108-234--- (Settlement deserted-medieval), GA108-124001- (Franciscan Friary) and GA109-021--- (Castle-ringwork). Nothing of an archaeological nature was encountered in any of the trenches excavated under archaeological supervision
