The proposal related to a planning application for the construction of 10 static caravan spaces at Rushin Caravan Park, Belcoo, Co. Fermanagh.
HED (Historic Monuments) assessed the application and was content that the proposal satisfied PPS 6 policy requirements, subject to conditions for the agreement and implementation of a developer-funded programme of archaeological works.
The agreed impact assessment recommended the archaeological testing of the development via six machine-dug archaeological test trenches across the footprint of the proposed static caravan sites to address the impacts of possible subsoil archaeological deposits surviving in the area.
The testing was undertaken on 17th December 2021. Nothing of archaeological interest was noted in any of the trenches investigated.
