A metal detecting survey and archaeological watching brief were undertaken between the 15th February and the 3rd March 2021. This work was required as part of the planning conditions for the creation of a new walking trail.
The entire length of the trail was subject to a metal detecting survey. Sixteen metal artefacts were recovered; they spanned the 18th to 20th centuries.
Two areas of mechanically excavated topsoil stripping were undertaken under archaeological supervision. One area was across the potential enclosure FER 229:032 and the other along the line of a new drain; nothing of an archaeological nature was uncovered.
