A programme of pre-development test trenching was undertaken at Kinsaley. Malahide, Co. Dublin. It follows a previous Archaeological Impact Assessment (Anderson 2017) and a Geophysical Survey carried out under licence 21R0167 (Leigh 2017)

Archaeological testing was carried out over 19 and 20 July 2021, using a mechanical excavator fitted with a flat grading bucket. The trenches targeted geophysical anomalies and greenfield areas to fully investigate the archaeological potential of the proposed development site. Testing revealed four areas of archaeological significance, which have been designated as Archaeological Areas (AA) 1-4. These comprise three sub-circular pits (AA1 and 3), one possible ringditch (AA2) and one probable sub-rectangular enclosure (AA4).
