The author was commissioned to carry out archaeological testing of a proposed Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) recycling centre at Tay Lane, Greenogue Business Park, Rathcoole, South Dublin.
The programme of archaeological testing was carried out on 27 April 2021 using a 20-tonne backhoe excavator with a 2m-wide grading bucket. In total 8 test trenches were excavated across the site, in overcast but dry conditions. The stratigraphy was consistent throughout the site with natural reddish-brown sandy silty soil with frequent inclusions of small stones underlying the ploughsoil. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted during testing.
