A programme of archaeological monitoring undertaken in a greenfield site in West Dublin at Grange Castle West Access Road and Business Park, Clondalkin, Dublin 22 during the construction of new road alignment and development.
It follows a previous archaeological and historical assessment by Courtney & Deery (Deery, 2018), a geophysical survey undertaken by ACSU (2019), and an archaeological testing carried out by IAC Archaeology (Piera, 2019).
Entire excavation consisted of topsoil overlaying subsoil. Topsoil consisted of a friable mid-greyish black loam. Subsoil comprised a layer of mottled grey-yellow to yellow-grey clay. Occasionally a relict soil layer of similar physical characteristics to subsoil was observed, however this was more silty but also sterile.
Nothing of archaeological significance was identified during the course of works associated with the development.
