Archaeological testing was carried out over two days commencing 16 February 2021 at Adamstown Station, Co. Dublin as part of planning conditions attached to a proposed development. There are no recorded monuments within the proposed area of development.
Ten test trenches measuring 745 linear meters were excavated to target open green space to fully investigate the ground disturbances and archaeological potential of the site.
The area has been heavily disturbed in the form of the construction of temporary roads and a compound hardstanding along with dumping of material from the adjacent developments. This appeared to mainly consist of redeposited clays with occasional construction debris evident and loose stone deposits within. Trench 7 was moved to avoid a small spoil heap c. 8m in diameter and c. 3m in height, likely the result of the construction of large circular trench of c. 32m diameter and 1m width located within the site to the southwest.
Testing revealed no areas of archaeological significance.
