Test excavations were undertaken in the footprint of a proposed access road and services infrastructure through Barrysparks, Swords. Eight trenches totalling 617 linear metres were excavated in dry and intermittently overcast conditions. A number of amendments were made on-site to the Method Statement trench layout. A proposed trench near the local watercourse in the southern area was cancelled due to the presence of an ecologically sensitive zone at this point. Topsoil, a loose brown sandy clay, varied in depth from 0.3-0.8m. Subsoil consisted of a brown and orange stoney clay. No features or deposits of archaeological significance were identified during the course of test excavations.
