Archaeological test trenching as part of an assessment was carried out in advance of the construction of a car showroom.
The site is located c.300m west of a site in Drinan townland, where four Recorded Monuments were discovered in 2003 during archaeological monitoring of groundworks for the construction of a housing estate (03E1362 Ext.: Cremation Pit, Kiln, Pit, Enclosure.)
The site was large and flat waste ground. Seven test trenches were excavated, totalling 220m linear metres of trenches.
The ground appeared to have been built up to a considerable depth, possibly during the intensive urban construction in the vicinity, viz. the deep cut of the R125 road, a large roundabout and a shopping centre immediately north of the site.
No material of an archaeological nature, finds or features were disclosed by the test trenching.
