An archaeological impact assessment was carried out at Bon Secours Hospital, Glasnevin, Dublin 9.
A total of four test trenches were excavated. The sod and topsoil measured between 0.3-1.0m in thickness and lay above a layer of post-medieval demolition rubble, probably from the demolition of the Delville house. No archaeological features or deposits were identified, and no human remains were identified. However, a modern cast iron water main was identified within Trench 3 as was a short section of 19th-century mortared stone wall, likely a part of a structure, possibly an outbuilding associated with the former Delville house, that is depicted on the 1st and 3rd edition Ordnance Survey maps. Though partly cut by the modern water main (C4), portions of this structure and associated boundary walls may be exposed during the proposed works.
Monitoring was recommended.
