Test trenching was carried out at Raheny Lane, Rathmore Road, Lusk, Co. Dublin on 17 December 2021. A total of 4 test trenches were excavated across the footprint of site. In total 82m of linear trenches were excavated. Trench 1 was not as long as originally planned, as a large elongated sump hole was located at the northern end of the planned trench. A shorter 8m length trench was dug towards the south. The test trenches were excavated down to the natural. The site had been recently cleared of a basketball court and construction gravel spread across the site. There was no sod, or even topsoil in places. Trenches 2-4 were full of gravel and contained no topsoil.
No features of archaeological significance were identified and no finds were recovered. There is no archaeological impact and no further works are necessary.
