Archaeological test trenching was carried out on a site at Chapel Road, Kinsealy, Co. Dublin. This was informed by geophysical survey 21R0037.
A total of 3 test trenches were excavated within the site. Each trench measured 1.8m in width and in total, 123 linear meters were excavated. The test trenches were excavated down to the natural subsoil. In general, the trenches revealed greyish-brown sandy clay topsoil and sod with a combined depth of c. 0.3-1m. Two sherds of pottery were retrieved from topsoil and consisted of a sherd of brown ware and 13th/14th-century internal green glazed pottery sherd. The natural exposed varied from stony orange-brown boulder clay to grey sandy gravel. It appears the north-east corner of the site has made ground. The ground must have originally stopped towards the river along the north-east side of the site and was later made up.
No archaeological features or deposits were exposed or identified. The work is now complete.
