Monitoring was carried out in February 2021 at the Cashel Inlet (Gortahork) water mains scheme, Co. Donegal. Archaeological investigations completed to date for this project include a desktop Archaeological Screening Report to assess the scheme’s likely impact on previously recorded archaeological sites (Smith 2020). In line with these recommendations, archaeological monitoring was carried out for open-cut trenching undertaken at Gortahork. No potential archaeological features, finds or deposits were noted during the course of monitoring of the works.
