Archaeological monitoring was undertaken at Garranes, Templemartin, Co. Cork, over a three-day period, 21–23 June, 2021. This was done to supervise groundwork for the construction of a detached dwelling house, detached garage, septic tank and associated site works at a green-field location. The site lies in general proximity to the early medieval ringfort complex at Garranes, but is 100m away from the nearest recorded monument. The archaeological work involved the monitoring the removal of topsoil and some subsoil over an area of c.1500m2. No features of archaeological interest were identified, consistent with the results of geophysical survey at the site. The only finds recovered during this monitoring were two sherds of early modern pottery.
