Test excavation was carried out at a campervan park as part of an application for retention at the site. The developer wanted to extend the site to the south for a static caravan area and to the east for a waste and percolation area. The area to the south had already been partially developed and all the topsoil removed. A total of 6 test trenches, totaling c.150m in length, were excavated in an adjoining field over the footprint of the percolation area. This field consisted of rough grazing, sloping gently to the north, situated to the south of Eyeries village. The stratigraphy in the test trenches was similar over the area with between 0.2m and 0.4m of a mid-grey/brown topsoil overlying a light grey, stony boulder clay. Trenches 4-6 included a layer of up to 0.65m of introduced soils spread on the land surface, stock-piled from a neighbouring development. No archaeology was found.
