A monitoring condition was placed on planning approval for a soil recovery site to the north of Macroom, Co. Cork. This was due to the presence of a Fulacht Fiadh (CO059-134) close to the site. A new entrance and haul road were the only areas requiring monitoring as the remainder of the site would only be covered with introduced soil. The stratigraphy along the route of this haul road (7m x c.100m) consisted of between just 50mm and 0.1m of a mid-grey/brown topsoil overlying a compact, gravelly boulder clay. No archaeology was found.
