Located just to the south of this green field site is the Early Ecclesiastical Enclosure (CO71-0180), however due to the undulating nature of the terrain only a portion of the vallum wall is visible from the site. The church and graveyard (CO71-18003/18004) are located 125m to the south-west of the proposed site. Nine trenches were opened.
The topsoil (C.1) was a dry light brown loose clay with a moderate density of stone inclusions. The depth of topsoil varied across the site but was on average c.0.3m. The subsoil was a light red loose clay with a high density of stone inclusions.
No archaeology was found.
