Archaeological testing was carried out at this site to establish the precise location and outer limit of a levelled enclosure, prior to the submission of a planning application for a proposed dwelling house. The enclosure was known only from aerial photography and was not visible on the ground. Three trenches (T1-T3) were excavated across the expected location of the enclosure and three (T4-T6) in the location of the proposed dwelling house. The enclosure ditch, ranging from 1-1.6m wide, was located in trenches T1-T3 and was not further investigated. The enclosure was estimated to be D-shaped in plan, measuring 25m north-south x 21m internally, with a 1.5m-wide, south-facing entrance. No archaeology was found in trenches T4-T6.
