Archaeological testing on the site of a proposed new dwellinghouse was carried out on January 11 2021. The site was at the centre of Glanworth village, which is known to have been a medieval town. Glanworth Castle (CO027-042001-) is located 100m to the east, and a medieval Dominican Priory is located 300m to the north-east.
Four trenches were excavated across the site. No archaeology was found in trenches T1-T3. In the fourth trench remains of the walls and floor of a house which had stood on the site from c. 1900 to c. 1980 were found.
