Archaeological testing was undertaken on the site of a proposed dwelling redevelopment at Craggagh, Fanore, Co. Clare, immediately adjacent to ringfort CL004-008.
Five test trenches were excavated, ranging in length from 5.9m to 14.1m, each 1.55m wide. The total area investigated was 83m sq. Testing did not reveal any evidence of archaeological material within the development site; archaeological monitoring during construction was recommended based on the proximity to the adjacent ringfort.
Archaeological monitoring was subsequently undertaken during construction, under the same licence, and did not reveal any evidence of archaeological material within the development site.
