Archaeological monitoring was recommended for the initial phase of groundworks during upgrade works at the existing Waste Water Treatment Plant, located within the historic town of Lismore (WA021-019). An archaeological presence was maintained throughout the removal of all topsoil as well as during trenching adjacent to the west stone boundary wall, which originally formed part of the Lismore Castle pleasure grounds. A stone-capped drain and a threshold stone were exposed at the location of a blocked-up masonry arch in the boundary wall. No sub-surface archaeological features were present in any of the excavated areas.
