Archaeological monitoring was carried out on lands surrounding scheduled monument TYR016:016. This monument is a planation-era fortified house and bawn constructed in 1622 but reputedly built on the site of an earlier Gaelic tower-house dating to the 15th century. Archaeological mitigation at the site involved the monitoring of the construction of three new pathways around the monument in order to better exhibit it and the surrounding area to the public. This work was carried out on 12-13 October 2020, however no material of an archaeological nature was uncovered. It is believed that the grounds surrounding the monument were heavily landscaped before the introduction of archaeological mitigation guidelines and legalisation in the early 1990s.
