Tipperary County Council commissioned archaeological monitoring in relation to adjacent development of another nearby site necessitating the Council make rear of Cashel Mart available for temporary public car park. In the vent, this work did not proceed, but unauthorised preliminary work by the building contractors from the nearby development caused some limited ground works to occur.
As a consequence, the 3m by 20m affected area was stripped back under archaeological supervision and assessed for archaeological potential. Furthermore, the excavated soils were metal detected under licence 20R0015. This work occurred on 13th and 14th October 2020. No archaeology was encountered.
