Archaeological monitoring was recommended as a condition of planning for the Burncourt and Fethard Water Supply Schemes. A full archaeological presence was maintained during the removal of topsoil at the water treatment sites located to the east of Glengarra Wood in Burncourt and on the north-west facing slope of Slivenamon near Fethard. Groundworks at the River Anner intake site near Killusty Bridge, Fethard were also supervised and a watching brief was maintained during trenching along the existing road network from Killusty Bridge to the Water Treatment Plant site in Clonan townland. A watching brief was also maintained during trenching for pipeline installation to the abstraction pint in Glengarra Wood, Burncourt. No archaeological finds or strata were identified in any areas subjected to ground disturbance.
