A total of 21 test trenches with a combined length of c.2600 linear metres were excavated here on 9-10 December 2020. Trenches were spaced evenly, with gaps of c.20m across the site, which had an overall area of 8.6 hectares. The fields were an overgrazed pasture. The topsoil was very shallow, almost absent in places, with a maximum depth of 0.2m. The remains of one field boundary wall were recorded in Trench 4, this wall was noted on the 1st edition OS map. (1837).
No features, sites or objects of archaeological significance were noted in the course of test trenching works.
