The proposed development site is a part of a larger area that was subject to a number of archaeological assessments that took place in 2007 including testing, monitoring and excavation, all under licence 07E0201. Excavation by Gearóid Kelleher, on behalf of ACS, took place between 1–25 October 2007. The work carried out in 2007 confirmed the presence of archaeological deposits on the site. These features were all subsequently excavated.
As the site was fully stripped under archaeological supervision in 2007 and all the features identified were resolved and as the present proposed site lies fully within the 2007 stripped area, there will be no further archaeological impact from the proposed development and further archaeological monitoring is not now required.
