A programme of archaeological test trenching was carried out at Commons, Duleek, Co. Meath, targeting the results of a geophysical survey (19R0260) undertaken by the author in November 2019.
A total of 12 test trenches were excavated across the footprint of the site. Each trench measured 1.8m in width. In total 857m of linear trenches were excavated. In general, the trenches revealed mid-brown sandy clay topsoil and sod at a depth of c. 0.3–0.57m, overlying brown sandy clay natural with gravel and stone inclusions. No archaeological features or deposits were identified and no finds were recovered. The work is now complete.
