Archaeological monitoring was carried out at St Paul’s Primary School, Abbeyland, Navan, Co. Meath.

An Archaeological Assessment was previously undertaken by Aidan O’Connell of Archer Heritage Planning Ltd in February 2015 when test trenching at pre-planning stage and at the request of the client took place (15E0050). Testing failed to identify any archaeological features or deposits.
As the archaeological potential of the site was considered to be low, unlicensed monitoring of the footprint of the proposed development was now deemed appropriate. This monitoring was carried out over the course of a number of days from May 2019 to February 2020. The works involved monitoring of topsoil stripping and sub-surface works associated with the development.

This investigation exposed no archaeological features.
