An archaeological assessment was undertaken at Mount Avenue, Dundalk in advance of a proposed road upgrading scheme (LIHAF Mount Avenue, Dundalk) in July and September 2020. A total of 25 trenches (1733 linear metres) were excavated across the site. Metal detection (20R0123) was undertaken across the excavated trenches and upcast topsoil. No artefacts of archaeological significance were detected and none of the modern finds were retained. No archaeological features, layers or deposits were encountered in any of the excavated trenches.
