The excavation of a series of geological test pits was monitored under Ministerial Consent (C000928). The pits were dug in an open field between an enclosure (LF010-131) and other features (LF010-132) identified some years ago during archaeological testing (Excavations 2007:1156). The site is adjacent to Granard motte and bailey. The test pits were limited in scale, generally measuring 3.2m to 4m in length and 0.9m in width. They were excavated down to bedrock, which was found at 1.2m to 2.4m below surface level. No finds or features of archaeological interest were noted during the monitoring programme.
